This will be my first attempt at blogging. Fortunately I thought of it at the perfect time! As of today, March 22, 2011, I have begun my journey with my wife, Laura, to become an Ironman at Ironman Wisconsin in 2012.
We started our training today for the same half-ironman that we did last year in Chisago City, MN. Things did not start off as planned because our dog Miley was scared of the thunder and lightning last night as some spring storms rolled through. So instead of getting up at 5am for a morning swim, we were up about a half a dozen times trying to calm her down throughout the night. Needless to say, we did not get much quality sleep. So we pushed our swim workouts back one day for the week.
Our second workout of the day was a 40 minute run. I was going to do that over my lunch break today, but I forgot my running tights. Not to mention it was cold and rainy. So I was going to come home after work, change into warm running gear, and go, but when I was changing more thunder and lightning rolled through. Off to the YMCA! Hooray for boring treadmill runs while watching CNN.
Fortunately I have a great wife, who after doing her run outside in the rain after work (I know what a badass!), came home and made a great dinner! How lucky am I?!
That is about the long and the short of day 1. Ill be back soon to post more observations, experiences, and general gripes (among other things) about triathlon training. Until next time.
